The best of health to Chiswick

Plans for a state-of-the-art health facility in Chiswick are now fully underway, with construction of the new, improved Chiswick Health Centre due to start in April.

The Council has teamed up with the NHS and developer Willmott Dixon to create the environmentally-friendly new facility, which will be located at the site of the current Health Centre.

While construction takes place, the health centre will temporarily move from its current base on Fishers Lane to a new location: 14-16 Stamford Brook Avenue from Monday, 17 April.

This relocation will include the follow GP practices:

  • Chiswick Family Doctors Practice
  • Chiswick Health Practice
  • West 4 GPs
  • Hounslow & Richmond Community Healthcare community services

Chiswick’s new health centre will also provide 55 new affordable homes for key health workers such as nurses.

The plans include modern consulting and examination rooms, district nurse facilities and community rooms.

A new public community garden, a private landscaped central courtyard, a fifth-floor garden terrace and gardens, will all improve the general look and feel of the area.

The new Health Centre is set to open in Autumn 2024.

The business will continue at the new address for approximately two years before returning to Fishers Lane.

Enhanced Patient Access to GP Practices in Hounslow

Patient access to GP practices has been a long standing concern for residents in Hounslow for a number of years. Issues like long waiting times on the telephone to book appointments, long waits to get an appointment, quality of telephone and online consultations, and problems around the 8am rush, have been persistent challenges.
In collaboration with ICS and Hounslow Primary Care team we identified questions and developed the survey for enhanced patient access.
We visited GP practice waiting areas over an 8-week period (August/September 2023) to talk to patients and complete surveys. Healthwatch volunteers played a vital role in this outreach work.
