Hounslow Council will a host an event at Hounslow House on Wednesday, 4 October, in honour of Black History Month.
Celebrating Our Sisters has been co-designed by local One Hounslow Community Star winners The Ghanaian Community Forum and the Council’s own Equalities team.
There are also a host of other local groups involved including SHEWISE, Southall Black Sisters, ILAYS, WELGA and national organisation Soul Purpose 360.
The theme echoes that of Black History Month 2023 and seeks to highlight the crucial role that black women have played in shaping history, inspiring change and building communities.
The event features a vibrant marketplace of over twenty stalls featuring community groups and Council teams and will include input from keynote speakers Yvonne Lawson, MBE and Lorraine Jones, who have both lost sons to knife crime.
A round table on black sisterhood will conclude an afternoon of community and celebration.
