Family support during the cost of living crisis
There is a range of support available for families with children during the cost of living crisis.
It includes:
- Tax-free childcare - you can get up to £500 every three months for each of your children to help with the cost of childcare.
- Child Benefit - You can claim Child Benefit if you're responsible for bringing up a child who is under 16 or under 20 if they are in education or training.
- Free school meals - are available during term time to pupils during term time if parents get certain benefits.
- Household Support Fund - The government has made £1.5bn available to support the most vulnerable with essential costs such as energy bills.
- Healthy Start vouchers - If you're more than 10 weeks pregnant or have a child under four, you may be able to get help to buy healthy food and milk.
- Help with maternity costs - You could claim a one-off payment of £500 to help with the costs of having a child.
