Back with a boost

With the new school term underway, it is important to remember to take some simple steps to protect your child from infectious illnesses.

Cases of COVID-19 and flu are still being reported in Hounslow and health officials say they are likely to increase over the coming weeks.

We can all help to minimise the spread of these infections in our schools and childcare settings.

The advice from the United Kingdom Health Security Agency (UKHA) is: if your child is feeling unwell and has a fever, they should stay home until they feel better and the fever has gone.

Adults should also stay at home if they have these symptoms - if you have to go out, wear a face covering.

Teaching children the importance of good hygiene can also help. Regularly hand washing at home with soap and warm water and catching coughs and sneezes in tissues and binning them, can help slow the spread of illness.

Getting your child vaccinated is another great way to safeguard against infections.

The flu vaccination is available for children aged two and three, all primary school children and some secondary school children.
