Embrace Equity on International Women's Day

Hounslow Council invites you to celebrate International Women’s Day with local community groups, residents and staff.

On Wednesday, 8 March from 1.30pm, Hounslow House will host a diverse range of speakers from domestic abuse support organisation. These include ShewiseAction Breaks Silence, which campaigns against violence against women and girls and Council representatives.

There will be a panel discussion that also involves Surviving Economic Abuse and the Afghan and Central Asian Association, based in Feltham.

International Women’s Day is a global event celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.

The theme for this year is #EmbraceEquity, and has been selected to highlight the importance of collective activism, through challenging gender stereotypes, calling out discrimination, drawing attention to bias and seeking out inclusion.

Forging gender equity is not limited to solely women; allies are incredibly important for the social, economic, cultural and political advancement of women too.
