Hounslow Dementia Action Week - May 15 to 21
This is the message Hounslow Council and its partners want to share with everyone across the borough for Dementia Action Week 2023.
Dementia Action Week, which runs from 15 - 21 May, is a national campaign, coordinated by The Alzheimer’s Society.
The theme of this year’s Dementia Action Week is to encourage people to get a diagnosis for the condition as early as possible. This means that treatment can begin faster, to help maintain the person’s quality of life for longer. Early diagnosis can also help reduce the number of people who are admitted to hospital due to dementia.
Working alongside partners including The Alzheimer’s Society, Hounslow Council is supporting a host of awareness-raising events and activities in the borough during Dementia Action Week. These include Singing for the Brain sessions, sensory outdoor walks, marketplace events and intergenerational music workshops - all aimed at people living with dementia and their carers.
Throughout Dementia Action Week there will be a series of information stands across the borough, where anyone can find out more.
As a highlight of the week, Hounslow Council will be premiering a special video, called Glimpses, which tells the tale of a Hounslow mother and son who are faced with the challenges of dementia following diagnosis. The Council has created a special Dementia Action Week webpage where you can find out more and view Glimpses once the week begins.
