Thanks for the Memory Cafés

Hounslow Council is piloting two new memory cafés to support people in our borough who are living with dementia.

Memory cafés are social get-togethers where people who are experiencing memory loss through dementia can meet with others on a similar journey to share their experiences and form new friendships.

As part of last week’s successful Hounslow Dementia Action Week activities, the Council’s Housing Team staged two new memory cafés for residents.

Organised by homecare provider Visiting Angels West London, the free cafés took place at Clayponds Community Centre in Hounslow and Edward Pauling House in Feltham.

Visitors enjoyed activities including singing for the brain sessions, craft activities, refreshments and the chance to meet and talk with professionals about the support on offer for people living with dementia in our borough.

Attending the launch events were Hounslow Council’s Cabinet Member for Adults and Health Integration, Cllr Samia Chaudhary and Cabinet Member for Housing Management and Homelessness Sue Sampson.

Based on the success of the two events there are now plans to make them regular monthly events.
