Dementia awareness: Hounslow’s Glimpses silver screen glory with international film festival coup

A short film commissioned by Hounslow Council to help raise awareness about dementia will be showcased at an international film festival.

The film, Glimpses will be shown as part of the prestigious Aesthetica Film Festival, as part of the festival’s Advertising category. The festival takes place in York in November and will also be shared online

Glimpses is an emotional journey which depicts one Hounslow woman’s experience of being diagnosed with dementia, through to living with the condition and the impact it has on those who care for her.

The four-minute-long movie was filmed in Hounslow by Capture Minds, a local production company. Whilst the piece uses actors to portray the central characters, the themes it touches upon are very real.

The film enjoyed a special premiere showing to an invited audience at Hounslow House and has since picked up many rave reviews for residents of the borough, social care professionals and commentators.

The Aesthetica Film Festival runs between November 8 and 12, 2023 and is a qualifying event for the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) awards.
