Shining a spotlight on World Mental Health Day

Many faces, one voice: People from across Hounslow have taken the online suicide awareness training for world mental health day.

Mental health is a universal right.

This is the message for everyone in Hounslow as the borough did put wellbeing at the top of the agenda for World Mental Health Day on Tuesday, 10 October.

Hounslow Council and its partners have been working to promote positive mental health in the borough and to signpost residents to where they can find support for any issues they are facing.

In the run-up to World Mental Health Day, the Council has encouraged people from across the borough to take online suicide awareness training from the Zero Suicide Alliance.

The free, 20-minute long session helps people to identify the signs that someone may be feeling suicidal and offers guidance on how to have a conversation with someone you are concerned about.

So far, more than 360,000 people across London have taken the training.

People in Hounslow who have taken the training have been sending in their photos with the special I’ve Taken The Training poster. The photos have been turned into a special montage to celebrate World Mental Health Day.
